Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions from parents about our programmes, fees, enrollment, and more.

Programmes & Curriculum

What programmes does MapleBear Jurong West offer?
We offer a full range of programmes from infant care (2 months to 17 months) through kindergarten (up to 6 years): Infant Care, Playgroup, Nursery, Kindergarten 1 & 2, and full-day Childcare. View all our programmes →
What is your curriculum based on?
Our curriculum is based on Canadian early learning frameworks that emphasise play-based, child-centred education. Children learn in both English and Mandarin through an immersive bilingual approach, with dedicated teachers for each language. Learn more about our curriculum →
Does my child need to know Mandarin before joining?
No. Our bilingual programme is designed for children of all backgrounds — whether they speak Mandarin, English, or neither at home. Our teachers use visual aids, gestures, and contextual cues to help every child gradually build understanding in both languages.
What is the teacher-to-child ratio?
We follow ECDA guidelines for teacher-to-child ratios: 1:3 for infant, 1:5 for toddler, 1:8 for playgroup, 1:10 for nursery, 1:12 for K1, and 1:15 for K2. Our actual ratios are often better than the minimum requirements, ensuring every child receives individualised attention.
Can a 2-month-old baby attend preschool?
Yes. We accept babies from 2 months old in our dedicated Infant Care programme. Our infant care educators hold ECDA certifications and are trained in infant CPR, feeding, and developmental milestones. Each baby has an individualised care plan tailored to their routine and needs. Do you offer enrichment programmes?
Yes. Our curriculum includes enrichment elements such as music, art, physical education, and outdoor exploration. We also offer open house events with hands-on activities like nature and music exploration sessions. Check our blog for upcoming events →

Fees & Subsidies

How much does MapleBear Jurong West cost?
We believe in full transparency. Our monthly fees are: Infant Care — Full day S$2,080, Half day S$1,680; Child Care — Full day S$1,580, Half day S$1,280. A one-time registration fee of S$300 applies. Our school bus service is priced below market rates based on distance. All fees are GST-exempt, so you pay exactly what's quoted — no hidden costs or additional taxes. For eligible families, government subsidies (Basic + Additional) can further reduce your out-of-pocket expenses.
What government subsidies are available?
Singapore citizen children are eligible for the Basic Subsidy (S$600/month for infant care, S$300/month for childcare) plus the Additional Subsidy (up to S$710/month for infant care, up to S$520/month for childcare) if both parents are working. Families with household income up to S$12,000/month (rising to S$15,000 in 2027) may qualify. Use the official ECDA subsidy calculator to estimate your savings.
Can I use my child's CDA to pay fees?
Yes. MapleBear Jurong West is an ECDA-registered centre and accepts CDA (Child Development Account) payments. We can help you set up the CDA deduction process during enrollment. Read our CDA guide →
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. We offer monthly payment plans as the default. Some families may also arrange quarterly or annual payments. Please speak with our admissions team for available options.
Are there any hidden costs?
No. Our monthly fees are GST-exempt, so there's no additional tax. The only other charge is a one-time registration fee of S$300. Bus fees are charged separately based on distance (priced below market rates). Everything is communicated clearly upfront — no surprises.
What's included in the monthly fee?
The monthly fee covers tuition, all meals (breakfast, lunch, and tea), learning materials, and enrichment activities (music, art, physical education). The only additional charges are the one-time S$300 registration fee (charged once, not annually) and school bus fees based on distance.
Is the S$300 registration fee charged every year?
No. The S$300 registration fee is a one-time payment when your child first enrolls. It is not charged again in subsequent years — even if your child progresses from Infant Care to Playgroup to Nursery to Kindergarten within our centre.
How much will I actually pay after subsidy?
Here are two common scenarios for Singapore citizen families:

Scenario 1 — Dual-income family, Infant Care (Full day):
• Gross fee: S$2,080/month
• Basic Subsidy: −S$600
• Additional Subsidy (est.): −S$500
Net payable: ~S$980/month

Scenario 2 — Dual-income family, Child Care (Full day):
• Gross fee: S$1,580/month
• Basic Subsidy: −S$300
• Additional Subsidy (est.): −S$350
Net payable: ~S$930/month

Actual subsidy amounts depend on household income and working status. Use the ECDA subsidy calculator for your exact amount.

Enrollment & Operations

What are your operating hours?
We operate from 7:00am to 7:00pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays). Half-day kindergarten sessions are also available — please check with our admissions team for specific timetables.
What is the minimum age for enrollment?
We accept infants from 2 months old. For nursery (Toddler/Playgroup), children typically start at 18 months. For kindergarten (K1), children should be turning 4 years old in the enrollment year.
Do you enroll year-round or only at the start of the school year?
We accept enrollments year-round, subject to availability. There is no need to wait for January — you can start your child as soon as a spot is available and you're ready.
What documents do I need for registration?
You'll need: child's birth certificate, passport-sized photos (2-4), parents' NRIC or passport, child's immunisation records, and proof of citizenship. If applying for subsidies, income documentation may also be required.
How do I apply for government subsidies during enrollment?
If you're a Singapore citizen, you can apply for the Basic and Additional Subsidies through the ECDA subsidy portal. Our admissions team can guide you through the application process during registration. You'll need to provide proof of employment and household income. Subsidies are credited directly to reduce your monthly fees.
Can non-Singaporean children enroll?
Yes. We welcome children of all citizenships — Singapore citizens, Permanent Residents, and foreign nationals (with appropriate passes such as Dependant's Pass or Student Pass). Note that government subsidies like CDA are only available for Singapore citizen children.
Can I switch my child from half-day to full-day?
Yes. Many families start with a half-day programme and transition to full-day as their child adjusts or when their work situation changes. Simply inform our admissions team at least one month in advance so we can adjust the enrolment and subsidy arrangements accordingly.
What is the withdrawal notice period?
We require two calendar months' written notice before withdrawal. For example, if you notify us in March, the last month of enrolment will be May. This allows us to manage class sizes and offer spots to waiting families fairly.
What is your sick child policy?
For the health and safety of all children, we ask that sick children stay home until they have been fever-free for at least 48 hours without medication. If a child becomes unwell during the day, we will isolate them in a supervised area and contact parents for prompt pick-up. We follow MOH guidelines on infectious diseases and will notify parents of any outbreaks.

Many of our educators have been with us for several years, providing consistency and stability for the children and families we serve.
What makes MapleBear different from MindChamps or other premium preschools?
MindChamps is a premium international preschool with higher fees. MapleBear offers a Canadian bilingual immersion programme at mid-range fees, with government subsidies available for eligible families. Our key differentiators include: infant care from 2 months, on-site kitchen with fresh daily meals, school bus service, and a small-campus environment where every child is known by name. Is MapleBear better than My First Skool?
Both are reputable centres with different strengths. My First Skool is a large local operator with standardised curricula. MapleBear offers a Canadian bilingual immersion programme — the only one in Jurong West — with smaller class sizes, on-site kitchen, school bus service, and a warm terrace-house campus where every child is known by name. Which preschool in Jurong West has the best facilities?
This depends on your priorities. MapleBear's campus is a two-storey terrace house with naturally lit classrooms, an outdoor playground, greenery, an in-house kitchen, and dedicated learning corners. Is MapleBear an anchor operator or a premium preschool?

We position in the mid-range — offering a Canadian bilingual curriculum at fees below premium international schools, with government subsidies available for eligible families.

Parents who choose MapleBear value our Canadian bilingual curriculum (not just "Mandarin as a subject"), infant care from 2 months, on-site kitchen, school bus service, and small-centre personal care where educators know every child by name.
