Based on MapleBear's proven Canadian curriculum, our comprehensive approach nurtures every aspect of your child's development through play-based, research-informed learning experiences. Every child who learns at MapleBear Jurong West is prepared for primary school and beyond.
Our curriculum is built on decades of early childhood education research and MapleBear's 40+ years of experience across 40 countries. Our curriculum structure aligns with Singapore's Nurturing Early Learners (NEL) framework, which defines six learning areas — Language & Literacy, Numeracy, Discovery of the World, Aesthetics & Creative Expression, Social & Emotional Development, and Motor Skills Development — as the foundation for all kindergarten learning.
Research consistently shows that young children learn best through purposeful play. Our teachers design learning centres and activities where children naturally explore concepts in literacy, mathematics, science, and social skills — consistent with the NEL framework's emphasis on learning through exploration and play. What looks like play is actually carefully scaffolded learning.
We follow a Reggio Emilia-inspired approach where children's questions and interests drive learning. Teachers observe children's curiosity, then plan investigations that deepen their understanding. Whether it's exploring why leaves change colour or how bridges are built, children learn to think critically and communicate their ideas.
Every child develops at their own pace. Our small class sizes allow teachers to tailor activities to individual needs, providing extra support where needed and extending challenges for children who are ready. Regular formative assessments help us track progress and adjust our teaching strategies.
Our Mandarin immersion preschool approach begins from the first day. Each classroom has dedicated English and Mandarin teachers who use songs, stories, daily routines, and interactive play to make both languages natural and meaningful. Unlike surface-level bilingual programmes, our immersion model embeds Mandarin naturally into every activity — children learn math concepts, science observations, and social skills in both languages. By graduation, children can read simple books, write their names, and hold conversations in both languages — a significant advantage when transitioning to Singapore's bilingual primary school system. Our curriculum aligns with the ECDA Nurturing Early Learners (NEL) framework, which identifies bilingual proficiency as a key learning goal for kindergarten graduates. Parents specifically seeking Mandarin immersion preschool in Singapore choose MapleBear Jurong West for its authentic two-teacher model — each language gets a dedicated specialist, ensuring children receive consistent, high-quality exposure to both English and Mandarin throughout the day.
Each area of our curriculum is designed to develop the whole child — cognitively, socially, emotionally, and physically.

Emotion recognition, conflict resolution, and cooperative learning strategies that build self-awareness, empathy, and positive relationships.
Our literacy programme follows a balanced approach that combines systematic phonics instruction with whole language experiences. Children develop a love for reading through interactive read-alouds, shared reading, and guided reading sessions. Our phonics programme teaches letter sounds, blending, and segmenting through multi-sensory activities — songs, hand motions, and tactile letter tracing.
Bilingual immersion in English and Mandarin begins from Day 1. Teachers use visual aids, gestures, songs, and stories to make both languages meaningful and engaging. By Kindergarten, children are reading independently and expressing themselves confidently in both languages. This bilingual foundation gives our graduates a strong advantage in Singapore's primary school system, where both languages are required subjects as defined by the Ministry of Education's Primary Education framework.
We also incorporate early writing skills through journaling, creative writing prompts, and letter formation practice. Children learn to express their ideas in writing, building confidence and communication skills that will serve them throughout their academic journey.

We use the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract (CPA) approach to teaching mathematics, the same methodology used in Singapore's top primary schools. Children first explore mathematical concepts using hands-on manipulatives like counting bears, pattern blocks, and measuring cups. They then transition to pictorial representations through drawings and diagrams, and finally to abstract symbols and equations.
Through games, puzzles, and real-world problem-solving activities, children develop strong number sense, spatial reasoning, and logical thinking skills. Our numeracy programme covers counting, sorting, patterns, measurement, geometry, and early addition and subtraction — building a solid foundation aligned with the NEL framework's Numeracy learning area, and preparing children for Primary 1 mathematics.
We integrate maths into daily routines — counting during snack time, measuring ingredients during cooking activities, and comparing sizes during outdoor play. This makes mathematical thinking a natural part of everyday life.
Our science curriculum encourages children to be curious investigators. Through hands-on experiments, nature walks, and outdoor exploration, children learn to observe, predict, test, and draw conclusions — just like real scientists. Our dedicated outdoor playground serves as a living laboratory where children discover plants, insects, weather patterns, and the changing seasons.
STEM projects are integrated throughout the year, allowing children to explore engineering concepts through building, coding, and design challenges. From constructing block towers to creating simple machines, children develop critical thinking and teamwork skills.
We also incorporate environmental awareness into our science curriculum, teaching children about recycling, conservation, and their role as stewards of the planet. These early lessons in sustainability build a lifelong appreciation for the natural world.
Character education is woven into every aspect of our day. Through stories, role-modelling, and daily sharing circles, children learn empathy, responsibility, respect, and gratitude. We celebrate acts of kindness and help children understand the impact of their actions on others.
Our teachers create a warm, inclusive environment where children feel safe to express their feelings, resolve conflicts peacefully, and celebrate diversity. These values form the foundation of our bilingual, multicultural community and prepare children to thrive in Singapore's diverse society.
We also teach global awareness through our MapleBear international network — children learn about different cultures, traditions, and celebrations from MapleBear schools around the world, broadening their perspective and building cultural sensitivity from an early age.
Our creative arts programme is process-oriented, focusing on the journey of creation rather than the final product. Children explore a variety of materials, techniques, and artistic mediums — from paint, clay, and collage to digital media and mixed-media installations.
Music, drama, dance, and visual arts are integrated into the curriculum, allowing children to express themselves creatively while developing fine motor skills, cultural appreciation, and confidence in their artistic abilities. Our annual concerts and art exhibitions give children the opportunity to share their work with families and the community.
We also incorporate traditional Chinese art forms — calligraphy brush painting, paper cutting, and ink wash painting — alongside Western art traditions, giving children a rich multicultural arts education.
We recognise that social-emotional skills are the foundation for all other learning. Our curriculum includes explicit teaching of emotion recognition, self-regulation strategies, and cooperative learning skills. We use the Zones of Regulation framework to help children identify their emotions and develop coping strategies.
Through guided play, conflict resolution practice, and daily reflection, children develop self-awareness, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with peers and adults. These are essential skills for lifelong success — research shows that emotional intelligence is a stronger predictor of academic and career success than IQ alone, which is why the NEL framework makes Social & Emotional Development one of its six core learning areas.
Our teachers model positive social behaviour and create structured opportunities for children to practice sharing, taking turns, and collaborative problem-solving. Morning meetings, buddy programmes, and group projects all reinforce these critical skills.
Our curriculum is designed to ensure every child transitions confidently into Singapore's primary school system.
Our K2 graduates consistently receive positive feedback from primary school teachers for their readiness, confidence, and enthusiasm for learning.

Our curriculum is delivered by dedicated educators who are passionate about early childhood development.
All our teachers hold recognized early childhood education qualifications and undergo regular professional development through MapleBear's global training network. Each classroom has both an English-speaking and a Mandarin-speaking teacher, ensuring authentic bilingual instruction throughout the day.
Our low teacher-to-child ratios mean every child receives individual attention. Teachers build strong relationships with each child and their family, creating the trust and connection that makes deep learning possible.
Every day is carefully structured to balance active play, focused learning, rest, and social interaction — tailored to each age group's developmental needs.

MapleBear follows a Canadian-inspired bilingual curriculum adapted for the Singapore context. It integrates best practices from Canadian early childhood education with Singapore's Nurturing Early Learners (NEL) framework, ensuring our children are prepared for both local and international primary schools.
Each classroom has dedicated English and Mandarin teachers. Children experience both languages throughout the day through songs, stories, daily routines, and play-based activities. We use a one-teacher-one-language approach so children associate each language with a specific person, making bilingual acquisition more natural.
We accept children from 2 months to 6 years old, with programmes for Infant Care (2-18 months), Playgroup (18 months-3 years), Nursery (3-4 years), and Kindergarten (4-6 years). Each age group has a tailored curriculum that builds on the previous stage.
We use ongoing formative assessment through observation, portfolios, and learning journals. Teachers document each child's development across all six curriculum pillars and share progress reports with parents termly. There are no formal tests — assessment is embedded naturally into daily activities.
